Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee and Mrs. Amita Chatterjee Visit the MCPI Plant at Haldia
As MCPI Private Limited continues its Silver Jubilee year, the organisation was honoured to host Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee, Founder and Chairman of The Chatterjee Group (TCG), and Mrs. Amita Chatterjee at the MCPI Plant, Haldia, on Friday, 27 February.
Dr. Chatterjee and Mrs. Chatterjee were greeted by Mr. Debi Prasad Patra, Managing Director & CEO, MCPI Private Limited; Mr. Ananta Charan Mishra, Executive Vice President & Plant Head; and Mr. Ambar Baran Bhowmik, Senior Vice President & Deputy Plant Head, along with other senior leaders of MCPI. Mr. Navanit Narayan, Whole-time Director & CEO, Haldia Petrochemicals Limited, was also present on the occasion.
During the interaction with the leadership and teams, Mr. Patra reflected on the pivotal role played by Dr. Chatterjee’s vision and guidance in MCPI’s transformation since its takeover by TCG in 2016. He highlighted key milestones in the company’s growth journey, including MCPI’s forward integration into the downstream polyester value chain through the acquisition of Garden Silk Mills Private Limited in 2021.
Addressing the team, Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee appreciated the dedication and contributions of MCPI employees, highlighting the company’s strong culture of learning and development, its ability to retain Japanese practices while evolving with change, and its focus on continuous improvement. He also spoke about the successful investment of Rs. 1,250 crore in the fully automated FDY plant at Surat, MCPI’s joint venture with IOCL, and the MCPI Group’s growing business-to-consumer presence across Fashion, Logistics, and Nutrifoods. Emphasising the future, he underlined the importance of deeply integrating Artificial Intelligence into business and encouraged the teams to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
As part of the visit, Dr. Chatterjee and Mrs. Chatterjee participated in a tree plantation activity, reaffirming our shared commitment to sustainability and responsible growth.
