MCPI Leads Regional Initiative with Two Day Safety Leadership & Culture Workshop

A two-day workshop on “Safety Leadership & Culture” was organized by MCPI Private Limited at its Haldia Plant on 21st and 22nd January 2026, with the objective of sharing MCPI’s systems and practices, and highlighting the role of leadership in sustaining a strong safety culture.

The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Vaibhav Chaudhury (IAS), Chief Executive Officer, Haldia Development Authority, and Shri Debayan Dey, Assistant Director of Factories, Government of West Bengal, who graced the occasion as Chief Guests, along with the senior leadership of MCPI Private Limited.

The Chief Guests, along with Mr. A. C. Mishra, Executive Vice President & Plant Head of MCPI, addressed the inaugural session, emphasizing the importance of safety leadership and motivating participants to further strengthen the safety culture within their respective organizations.

The technical session was initiated by Shri Debayan Dey, who highlighted the critical role of leadership in ensuring statutory compliance and meeting safety requirements.

A total of 14 industries from the Haldia and Kharagpur regions participated in the workshop. The participating industries included Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Tata Steel, Exide Industries Limited, Eastern Coalfields Limited (A subsidiary of Coal India), Rashmi Group, IVL Dhunseri Petrochem Industries Pvt Ltd., Hooghly Met Coke and Power Company Limited, Haldia Energy Limited, Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd, Aditya Birla Group, Indorama India Private Ltd., Tata Hitachi, and Tata Power.

Participants actively shared key safety best practices, making the sessions highly interactive and insightful. This first of its kind initiative in the region was widely appreciated by all participants and marked an important step towards collective learning and collaboration in safety leadership.
