Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee Inaugurates the Food Technology & Science Institute (FTSI) under TCG CREST, Marking MCPI’s Foray into Food Technology

Food Technology & Science Institute (FTSI), a wing of TCG CREST (Centres for Research & Education in Science & Technology) was inaugurated on 17th January 2024 by Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee, Chairman of The Chatterjee Group in the presence of Mr. Debi Prasad Patra, Whole-Time Director & CEO of MCPI Private Limited, Mr. Navanit Narayan, Whole-Time Director & CEO of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. and other senior officials.

FTSI is dedicated to developing high-quality, nutrient-rich, food ingredients that is in perfect alignment with contemporary health-conscious consumer trends. The laboratory’s primary focus will be on plant protein, dietary fibre, and novel food colours and aromas with a pivotal mission of extension of the shelf life of food products.

FTSI aspires to carve a niche for itself as a preferred and respected global research facility in the food ingredient and meat analogue space. This involves a strategic focus on creating products that not only meet high-quality standards but also cater to the evolving preferences of a global consumer base. FTSI will work in close collaboration with a special purpose subsidiary of MCPI Private Limited, dedicated in the sphere of health foods.

MCPI Private Limited is a well-known name in the domain of PTA & polyester value chain and is now venturing into the food technology arena through a subsidiary, dedicated for the said purpose.

FTSI and MCPI, will work in synergy to create a robust online presence through the establishment of an e-Commerce platform. In this evolving landscape of food industry, the company aims to build strong B2B networks to facilitate widespread distribution. In future, it plans to target the B2C market as well with its developed ready-to-cook/eat products.
