Inauguration of the FDY Plant at Garden Silk Mills Private Limited by Hon’ble Smt. Darshana Jardosh, Minister of Textiles and Railways, Government of India

The FDY Plant of Garden Silk Mills Private Limited (a wholly-owned subsidiary of MCPI) was inaugurated by Hon'ble Smt. Darshana Jardosh, Minister of Textiles and Railways, Government of India in the august presence of Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee, Chairman, The Chatterjee Group (TCG). The event was graced by Mr. Debi Prasad Patra, WTD & CEO of MCPI Private Limited; Mr. Navanit Narayan, WTD & CEO of Haldia Petrochemicals Limited, Mr. Georg Stausberg, CEO of Oerlikon Man-made Fibres, Mr. Giorgio Salmoiraghi, CEO, Salmoiraghi Group and other senior officials of The Chatterjee Group. Many dignitaries from various countries also joined on this auspicious occasion.

The new Fully Drawn Yarn (FDY) plant – a Rs 1250 Cr expansion project – with a capacity of 272 tons per day- marks the beginning of a period of rapid progress in the textile sector by The Chatterjee Group (TCG) under the leadership of its visionary Chairman, Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee. Featuring state-of-the-art Oerlikon Barmag machines that are known for producing the best-in-class FDY for knitting, weaving, and sizing applications, this plant is the sign of a technological revolution in the textile industry; a revolution sparked by TCG through MCPI.

 

With this foray into textiles, TCG aims to be a key player in the PTA-Polyester Downstream segment in the coming years. In line with TCG’s vision to attain exponential growth in textiles, MCPI and GSMPL are looking to ramp up its footprint in various polyester segments in the coming years.
